October 5, 2005 12:08 pm - New Leadership Tools RSS Feed!

Just recently we added a brand new box at the top of our Nav Bar. The purpose of this box to make it easy for our readers to sign up for our new RSS feed.

You may already recieve the RSS feed containing our BLOG. If so, it's important that you understand the difference between our new feed and the BLOG/RSS feed.

The new feed will announce new pages and/or any updates to all pages on our site.

The BLOG feed will only provide new BLOG entries.

Although we are still experimenting on just how best to differentiate the two feeds on our site, for now it's important that you understand that the Sign Up Box located above the Nav Bar is our new feed containing any/all updates to our site.

The Sign Up RSS links located at the bottom of our pages continue to be the RSS/BLOG ONLY feed.

More to come on this in the near future.

October 6, 2005 7:17 pm - Hat's Off - to our real community leaders!

We all know persons who are seen as very successful due to the amount they earn or because of the possessions they own.

How many of these same people have failed in the chief business of leading a quality life? Too often a person who is fortunate enough to have money, chooses to sacrafice his highest ideals in order to feed his lowest ambitions.

A person ought to seek to become larger than his pile of money, stronger than the foundations of his many homes, and more giving than all his neighbors.

The people who we hear about most often, who make the biggest noise in the world, who take pains to bask in the sun of fame and fortune - are not always our most uselful and helpful citizens.

On the contrary, there are tens of thousands of men and women whose names have never been heralded in the newspapers, who have no reputation outside of their own humble circle - who add more to the real greatness of our society.

Hat's off! - to our teachers, police, firefighters, socialworkers and clergy - and to anyone who strives to give more of himself or herself than what they could ever need from others.

October 8, 2005 2:08 pm - Self-Talk Your Way To Success!

Words form the thread
on which we string our expeiences
.

- Aldous Huxley

Whose words have deeply moved you?

John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King Jr., Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Helen Keller?

Through the power of words, these and women, affected us - as well as entire nations. Even after their deaths, their words continue to motivate and inspire millions.

Have you even considered the power of your own words, and your unique ability to empower or deflate others, as well as yourself?

Indeed, your most important words are the ones in which you speak to yourself, because those words are continually being reinforced over and over again in your mind.

So what are your words telling you? Are the words positive and full of hope, or negative and taking away your self-confidence?

Do your own words provide hope or despair?

Instead of stating a situation is scary, simply state that the situation is going to be interesting or even exciting.

Understand that your choice of words is just that - a choice.

The great key lesson in all of this is that YOU, and only you, can in a single moment change the momentum at which your words are affecting you.

Select your words carefully - when you realize you are telling yourself you can't, make the conscious choice to say to yourself "Of coarse, I CAN! Then, Do It!

Man's mind stretched to a new idea
never goes back to its original dimensions.

- Oliver Wendell Homes

October 9, 2005 11:56 am - Keeping Fit and Staying Mentally "Fresh"!

In the book "Making Life A Masterpiece, author Orison Swett Marden said the following related to mastering our physical vigor.

One ought so to live, work and play that he will be at the top of his condition every day in the year.

You will accomplish much more than you ever dreamed you could if you can keep yourself perpetually in an after-vacation condition; and you can do this by the right use of your physical and mental forces.

I know people who have so disciplined themselves in mental and physical rejuvenation through the exercise of their thought that they can throw off the "tired feeling" in a very few minutes by inviting and entertaining thoughts which invigorate, renew and refresh - harmonious thoughts, which antidote all discord.

To be sure, our mental attitude has everything to do with our feeling exhausted or fresh.

October 10, 2005 10:11 am - Leadership Tools - Q&A

Question To Leadership-Tools:

I am masters student at the University of Washington conducting research on LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT. I would like your permission to use information found on your internet site, while cited appropriatly, and ask for additional information concerning measuring effectiveness of your "tools", and some real feedback comments if possible. Thank you for your help. - Matthew Robinson

Answer to Matthew:

Leadership-Tools.com is happy to allow our readers to share our information with others for the purpose of education ONLY. So long as the information is properly credited to our site and that you make no attempt to sell this information you can feel free to utilize the information in your personal and professional development.

Unfortunately, while we work very hard to bring you high-value tools and resources, we have no way to determine how effectively they are being used by our readers. The effectiveness of any tool is determined more by the leader using the tool, rather than the tool itself.

Thank you for your question Matthew, and best of luck in your MBA "Huskies" endeavor. Press onward!!

October 17, 2005 7:51 pm - Making A List - for Continuous Growth!

At Leadership-Tools.com, we practice what we preach.

Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming to look at our To-Do list, realizing that it will always take a little longer than we prefer to complete the next project.

The LIST - as I fondly refer to it, it truely the one thing that ensures my focus. The feeling that you can get by checking off an all-important item off your list is the exact reason for creating a list in the first place.

Checking It Off - DONE! VICTORY!! The thrill you get and the pride you feel when you check off a task should never be underrated. That feeling is what spurs our ambition to move on to the next task, and the next - and the next after that.

We are happy to announce that we have a long list of TO-DO project to bring new tools and resources to Leadership-Tools.com.

In the coming weeks we are hopeful that we will introduce an entire new look and feel to our site.

Two different audio books are in various stages of production and will be available soon as well.

These are just two major items on our list of over 20. That's okay, we know our list will never be complete. We will simply continue to complete tasks at the same time as we add new ones to the list.

What 's on your major list of To-Do's? Don't have a written list? Get one!

Spend some time with your thoughts today and determine the top 2 or 3 things that you need to do in order to improve your health, wealth, and family/friends and spiritual relationships. What about your career? Write it down.

Writing down your goals is the first step toward ensuring you make regular progress toward realizing your dreams.

No one should ever complain of boredom or of not having enough.... TO-DO. Get started today.

Access the entire press release here.

October 21, 2005 8:39 pm - Leadership - Poetry In Motion!

Calling all poets or lovers of poetry!

We are working on a new section of our site that will provide inspirational and thought-provoking poems on leadership related subjects.

For example, on the subject of Persistence:

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.

Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent.

Genius will not: unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.

Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

The slogan "press on" has solved
and always will solve
the problems of the human race.

- U.S President, Calvin Coolidge

So true are the above words, and we know that there are many other original works out there that can inspire thousands, if not millions of aspiring leaders. All submisions can be sent to us on our Contact Us page.

In all things, those who achieve great things - do so through adversity.

And without a doubt, so can YOU - PRESS ON!

October 22, 2005 10:17 am - Only The Best - Is Good Enough

No one can be fully happy who does not believe in his own honesty, does not believe his doing his work completely - to his utmost ability, to be honest and trustworthy.

Did you ever notice how much better you feel after having done a superb piece of work, how much more you think of yourself, how it tones up your entire character?

This all comes from obeying the natural law within us to do things right, as they should be done, just as we feel an increase of self-respect when we obey these laws of integrity.

Always, reach to the highest point within you, cling to it. Take no chances with anything that is of a lower nature.

Whatever your vocation, let quality be your life-slogan.

Live by the motto, "Where Only The Best Is Good Enough."

What a life-motto this would be! How it would revolutionize an entire civilization if every person were to adopt it and live by it; to resolve that whatever they did only the best they could do would be acceptable. The best would only satisfy.

Imagaine if only the best would satisfy you. How would your life change?

Weave this motto into the texture of your daily experience, in everything you do, and your life-work will be what everyone's should be - a Masterpiece.

October 24, 2005 6:38 pm - Expanding Your Horizons - Grow to Live!

You don't have to jump out of an airplane, dive off a cliff or go on safari in order to step out and expand your horizons.

No matter what your circumstance, you have no further to travel than right around the next corner in order to benefit from a new experience.

By simply taking the initiative to reach out and help someone in need we open ourselves up to a world of new possibilities.

It might only be a small step forward. By simply introducing yourself to a stranger in need you open the door to a new experience. Perhaps the thing you'll gain will come from something your see or hear, a movie you discuss or a seminar you agree to attend - the benefits can come in many various ways.

But the benefits will come. You will learn - and as a result you will grow.

So, take action - get off the bench and step into the game of life. Allow your imagination to run wild with new possibilities for exploration and to a more fulfilling life expeience.

What new experience could you pursue today that would add value to your life? Not sure? Take a walk, and look forward to what's just around the corner.

October 30, 2005 1:39 pm - Leadership-Tools - Brand NEW Look and Feel!

We're happy to announce a brand new look, a new site design, that we feel captures the essense of Leadership-Tools.com.

We hope you like it!

For the next few days, and possibly weeks - we'll be re-evaluating every single page on our site. The purpose of this review is to update certain pages that need an extra bit of attention for improved content quality - and also to ensure that the look and feel of each page blends nicely with our new header and nav bar design.

We'd love to hear your comments on our new design!
