Entrepreneurial Apptitude Tests
Are You Up To The Task?

Leadership-Tools Original Article

Why is it important to complete entrepreneurial apptitude tests?

You need to think about why you would like to own your own business.

What makes you think you can be successful at creating a new business?

"Richard, I thank you for having the foresight to develop this site. I have decided to quit my job and take time off for my children's educational needs. This site will certainly help me remain motivated while I undergo my own self-development path. Thanks once again."

- Judith Crew

Read most small business development materials and you’ll read a brief dissertation on the characteristics of the business owner in order to help you decide if you should go into business for yourself.

Questions on these apptitude tests deal with the basic personality of potential entrepreneurs.

Ask yourself the following key entrepreneurial questions:

  • Are you "entrepreneurial" enough to build a business?
  • Do you understand the true meaning of the word "entrepreneur"?
  • Are you a risk taker? What will the apptitude tests say?
  • Did you get good grades in school?
  • Did you know that many successful entrepreneurs actually got very poor grades in school?

You are a cautious person and a good student. Should you forget the whole thing? That's what some entrepreneurial tests might suggest if your answers seem fairly conservative.

"This website is an endless source of energy and inspiration when you need to face important decisions in life or in business. Or if you just need to improve your existing leadership skills. Everybody needs a resource like this. A great big Thank You!"

However, there are many successful business owners who, as an adolescent - were team players, athletes, school leaders, excellent students, and never seriously questioned the status quo.

Often, entrepreneurial apptitude tests showing a tendency toward caution is not typical of many successful entrepreneurs. Most entrepreneurs tend to be maverick personalities with risk-taking vision and courage.

Many entrepreneurs tend to be just a bit "off beat" and they sometimes need to be in order to creatively grow a successful business.

Obviously, there is no set formula for success. However, the following entrepreneurial apptitude tests may help you in your personal evaluation process.

You just need to remember that this is simply a tool. The test is fun to take and interesting to interpret. You should keep the results in perspective.

For each question, click on the answer that best describes you. You must answer ALL questions for the test to be accurate.

NOW TOTAL YOUR APPTITUDE TESTS SCORE

(Your TOTAL Score is easily calculated in the following manner. For every YES answer, add a point value of 3; for every MAYBE answer, add 2 points; and every NO answer is worth zero/0 points. Now add up all your points and use the score definitions below to see how you rate as a potential entrepreneur.

Review the remarks below, and keep in mind that regardless of your score, if you have the grit and determination to succeed, you will. Have Fun!)

If you scored between 60 and 75, you can start that business plan. You have the earmarks of an entrepreneur.

If you scored between 48 and 59, you have potential but need to push yourself. You may want to improve your skills in your weaker areas. This can be accomplished by either improving yourself in these areas or by hiring someone with these skills.

If you scored between 37 and 47, you may not want to start a business alone. Look for a business partner who can compliment you in the areas where you are weak.

If you scored below 37, self-employment may not be for you. The particular apptitude tests says you will probably be happier and more successful working for someone else. However, only you can make that ultimate decision.
