Entrepreneurial Traits

Traits of Entrepreneurs That Have What It Takes To Succeed

Entrepreneurial traits are common in those who experience success in running a small business. But not everyone has what it takes to succeed.

What does it take to be an entrepreneur? Which personality traits make for success? Let's see if you have what it takes to win in business and in life.

FICTION: To be an entrepreneur you must be born that way.

FACT: Anyone who wants it bad enough can learn to operate like an entrepreneur.

What are the entrepreneurial traits and similarities of successful entrepreneurs?

  • persistence
  • desire for immediate feedback
  • inquisitiveness

In addition to the preceding traits, many entrepreneurs also had a role model to influence them early on; and parents who possessed were entrepreneurial traits.

Two additional entrepreneurial traits necessary for success include: Creativity and Innovation.

What Is Creativity?

Creativity is being able to create new ideas and ways to solve problems that other people will commonly overlook.

Characteristics of Creative People:

  • bright
  • adaptable
  • high self esteem
  • challenge-oriented
  • idea-oriented
  • inquisitive
  • curious

So can you improve your creativity? YES! How?

First, gather as much information as you can (read, talk with experts, etc.) "brainstorm" over time. Just think about the problem or issue until an idea comes to you.

Is the solution reasonable? If so, try it. If not, keep thinking. Did it work? If so, great. If not, begin the process over again.

What Is An Innovation?

  • something that is invented
  • something that is created from an existing idea or product

Where do innovative ideas come from?

  • unsatisfied customers
  • demographic changes in society

  • vision
  • problem-solving

Remember:

  • look for new ideas
  • keep it simple
  • start small
  • try, try, try again

However, no matter how you rate yourself today, you should know that you alone possess the talent and willpower necessary to acquire whatever entrepreneurial traits you currently lack.

Only you have the power to decide whether you are fit to become an entrepreneur or to choose another route for your life. If you feel a burning desire to continue on your journey of owning your own business, and you possess the traits that are indicative of future success, then by all means - Press Onward!
