What service or product does your business/website offer? Our benchmark product is Success e-Mag, which is an online magazine we publish monthly for our subscribers. Our business model is based on an open-end contribution system. This means that people who appreciate the value they receive from Success e-Mag can contribute whatever they like to support the effort, love and care that goes into publishing the magazine. Amazingly - contrary to the common belief that people don't usually contribute, what I have observed is that if you are providing true value to people, many are more than willing to support our efforts and do contribute. Sometimes they contribute even to the extent that truly surprises you. I think this happens as the law of reciprocity comes into play. In addition to Success e-Mag, we offer various self-help products from well known and credible experts in the field of personal development.
What motivates you to remain focused on growing your business/website? It’s simple really. Don't you feel good when you make someone smile just for the sake of it? When you listen to someone with empathy in your heart? When you choose to be kind to someone rather than just being right? This is, in part, what the spiritual side of life teaches us. When we live by these principles, we are filled with positive energy that allows us to keep on keeping on. :-) What has been your greatest challenge as a business leader, and how did you overcome it? The moment we overcome the "quality" challenge, customers somehow start seeking us instead of we seeking them. Now, I'm not saying that marketing and advertising do not play a vital role. What I am saying is that all your marketing and advertising won't do you any good if the perceived as well as the actual value of what you are offering is not equal to or above the price your customers will be paying for your products and/or services. In my case, the challenge was to produce "useable" self-help content for my subscribers. In order to deliver, I literally read hundreds of newsletters and e-zines on these self-help topics every month. The end result is that the number of people who unsubscribe is extremely low. People actually e-mail me if the issue is late. My subscribers get quality content to read and it saves them the time and trouble of doing their own research. Describe the most important activity(ies) you do regularly, that you attribute to the success of your site? I perform the following activities regularly: 1. Monitor traffic to analyze which keywords visitors are using to arrive at my site and then optimizing the pages accordingly. 2. Identify new keywords that I can incorporate and optimize my pages to attract more targeted traffic. 3. Reply to e-mails promptly and personally. 4. Update the quality of content, products and services on the site. 5. Find good content and authors for Success e-Mag. 6. Perform at least 2-3 marketing/networking activities on daily basis, like finding targeted e-zines to exchange ads with or contacting the right business/ link partners or writing and submitting articles for targeted e-zines etc. 7. Review the web marketing, search engine optimization websites and forums to keep myself informed about what is happening on the web and adopting what I find useable to my site. Do you own other internet businesses? If so, what product or service does it offer? Url?: Anyone interested in learning more is welcome to e-mail me directly. Anyone who mentions that they learned about this site after reading this interview will receive a discounted price for my services. What is your greatest accomplishment relating to your site? Other than that, personally, my accomplishment is the excitement and joy I feel when I get to touch hearts through my website. I feel peace in sharing empowering knowledge that my visitors and subscribers can apply in their lives to get real results. How would you recommend others get started on creating a website? 1. The most important thing is to believe that you CAN make it. You can do it. No half-hearted, experimental approaches please. 2. Find and/or create an information product. Web is all about information, hence info products are HOT. 3. How to create a product? Ask yourself what you are really good at? What is your basic talent? What is your experience in a certain profession/hobby, etc.? What do people usually consult you about? Then change that knowledge into an information product. 4. If you have other products to sell – great! Research thoroughly to see if the product would be a good seller on the net. Then get right on with the business of creating your site. 5. Choose a simple, related and memorable domain name. Don't fret too much over the name, but make sure it fits the theme of your site. 6. Develop a clean, crisp, easy to navigate, intuitive, customer focused, theme based, content-rich, keyword-optimized website. Remember, on the net it's E&S Formula. What is E&S? EDUCATE AND SELL. 7. Write a good customer focused copy for your home page. Keep your copy focused on your ideal customer's WANTS - not needs. You have to talk to her about how your product /service will satisfy her wants. 8. K.I.S.S. No, no......not THAT kiss. ;-) I mean Keep It Simple and Smart for your customer. Don't confuse her. Lead her though your website with a well thought out navigation system to your closer page. Ken Evoy calls it the MWR Page. Most Wanted Response page. 9. Sell and provide excellent after-sale service. 10. Keep fine-tuning your website to make it more effective. These are some very basics for getting started. What advice would you offer to others wanting to generate income on the Internet? Conduct extensive research on the present competition to see what is missing in their approach and then fill that gap. Develop products or services that would be a natural pre-product/service or post-product/service to what your competition is offering. Finally, surround yourself with positive people who will encourage your efforts. Describe your favorite leadership tool? I try to get my hands on whatever new quality products and tapes become available in the marketplace. Powerful quotes do help and so does meditation and prayer. Any last "Words of Wisdom"? Editors Note: Sunny Jamiel represents one more real-life example of how one's passion for an idea can quickly become a successful online business. What's your passion? Perhaps my #1 leadership tip is for you to identify and follow your passion. That's exactly what I did after discovering Sitesell.com. - Richard Gorham, President of Leadership-Tools.com.
