Master Action Plan Template (Your M.A.P. for Success)

Chapter 7: The Price of Admission

A free action plan template is included in our free Goal Setting For Success ebook. In the following information, you'll learn how to identify the knowledge, skills and resources that will be required in order to achieve each of your most important goals.

The one single thing that distinguishes successful people from those who are unsuccessful is that those who meet their goals are willing to do the things that others are simply unwilling to do.

Successful leaders understand that that choosing a major goal and sticking to it changes everything.

Achievers are willing to pay the price of admission required for the game they hope to play in. They understand that no one gets invited to the big game of life without having made a significant effort; demonstrated a resolute will, and accepted a certain level of risk to be there.

Earlier we introduced our free Life Balance - Success Wheel tool, which instructed you on how to identify your key life categories and score yourself on well you were doing in each key area.

"Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be."

Now that you've identified what's important in your life, it's time to establish a realistic goal plan that will provide a path toward a more fulfilling life.

Our Master Action Plan template, also known as our M.A.P tool, walks you through the goal planning process. This tool will requires you to complete a process of thinking through how much - of what, needs to be done -  by when, and by whom.

Each of the prior chapters have really been leading up to this point in time. Get excited because once you complete this process you'll be well on your way toward living the life you've been dreaming about.

There are some very expensive goal planning "systems" on the market that tout their ability to help you get focused, get organized, and get moving toward your goals.

Some of these goal planning systems are good and some are not so good, but almost all of them are way too expensive. You simply don't need to shell out hundreds of dollars on fancy binders and forms to create a quality goal plan.

In response, we've created our Master Action Plan template (M.A.P.) tool that walks through the key areas of a quality goal planning system - and the best part? It's free.

Our Master Action Plan template consists of the following:

  • What's Your Ultimate Outcome? (What must be achieved?)

(M.A.P.) Tool
  • What's Your Purpose and Motivation? (Why is this so important?)
  • What High-Impact Activities Are Required To Ensure Success? (How Much; Of What; By When, By Whom?)  Here's where you really need to hold yourself accountable for being as specific as possible. The more granular you can identify what must occur in order to guarantee success, the better. Challenge yourself to be as specific as possible.
  • Anticipate Potential Barriers You will encounter obstacles along the way. If you can identify possible challenges upfront, and have an action plan at the ready, you'll be able to minimize and overcome those issues very quickly.
  • Create Your 5-Day Planner for Success!  Having identified your Goal, Purpose and Motivation - then having broken the goal down into bite-sized pieces, you are now ready to plan your typical week. By following our master action plan template you have a weekly plan that when followed, over time, you'll be on your way to achieving your most important life goals.

Your next assignment is to read the page about our Master Action Plan Template (M.A.P.), download the free tool and complete the template for at least one of your most important goals.

Note:  Every week won't go perfectly. Life happens and you'll be forced sometimes to deviate from the plan. That's okay!  Whenever this happens just chalk it up to "life happened", and get back on the plan as soon as possible. This will keep you moving toward your dreams.

It was James Allen who said, "Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil."

For added inspiration, consider creating a Vision Board.  This can add a visual element to your goal setting plan by cutting out pictures that represent the goals you plan to achieve. This is an opportunity to make the process fun and to be creative!

Add inspiring goal setting quotes for additional motivation. Attach goal quotations that invoke positive and inspiring emotion. Goal quotes and sayings help to motivate and push you forward in your goal planning program.

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

- Mary Anne Radmacher

Success Lesson #15: Freedom At Any Cost

Too many people today live in a cramped and uncongenial environment; in an atmosphere that dampens enthusiasm, discourages ambition and effort, scatters energy, and wastes time.

They have not the courage or stamina to cut the shackles that bind them, to throw away all crutches and props, and to rely on themselves to get into an environment where they can do what they desire.

"If you would attain that largeness of life, that fullness of self-expression, which expand all the faculties, you must grasp hold of freedom at any cost."

- Unknown

Sadly, many ambitions lay dormant under a cloud of discouragement and inaction. However, some people experience an awakening due to a powerful event; a tragedy, a sermon, a book or movie, something that provides the jolt needed to give rise to their ambitions.

If you would attain that largeness of life, that fullness of self-expression, you must achieve a sense of personal freedom at any cost. Nothing will compensate you for stifling the best thing in you. Bring it out at any sacrifice that is legally and morally sound.

"Too often it takes adversity, suffering or struggling with obstacles and misfortunes, before the strength of one's character is brought out for all to see."

You can begin by using our master action plan template and other leadership tools provided on this website.

The diamond cutter knows the lessen of adversity better than most. He understands the diamond could never reveal its depths of brilliancy and beauty, but for the friction of the stone which grinds its facets, polishes it, and let's in the light which discloses its hidden wealth.

This friction is the price of admission; the price of liberation from darkness.
